XY Berry Farming Guide

I made this because Bulbapedia is Ugly on mobile, and for my purposes, involves clicking too many links. So if this helps no one but me it's fulfilled its purpose. But if you do find it useful, I'm glad. Mind that all the numbers here, and even the berry colors, are different in other games.

This and EV training are what I'm doing instead of *checks notes* making it to the second gym in the game.

Yield

Each berry tree yields a set number of berries, depending on the type. The yield can be increased by watering, weeding, and chasing away bug pokémon. Weeds and pokémon may spawn every 2 hours. Soil dries after 24 hours. Boost Mulch dries soil after 4 hours, allowing more chances to earn more berries. Rich Mulch add 2 berries.

A growing tree will have 3 to 6 flowers on it. A tree with 5 or 6 flowers has reached at least 60% of its max yield.

Mutations

When certain berries trees are planted next to each other they have a chance to mutate, producing a third kind of berry. Surprise Mulch boosts mutation chance.

If a growing tree has an even number of flowers, it will mutate.

Mulch

Mulch is made by putting berries in the composter on the farm. 3 mulch are made at a time. It must be applied to soil before a berry is planted.

Rich Mulch

Adds 2 berries to the harvest. Made with berries of 3 different colors.

Boost Mulch

Dries soil after 4 hours. Made with berries of 2 different colors.

Surprise Mulch

Increases mutation chance. Made with berries of the same color.

Amaze Mulch

Combines all three mulches. Made with a Kee or Maranga berry and any two other berries.

Each day a man in Camphrier Town asks to see a certain type of pokémon. In return he offers your choice of a Cheri, Chesto, Pecha, Rawst, or Aspear berry.

Each day the empty stall in the Coumarine marina gives a random Cheri, Chesto, Pecha, Rawst, or Aspear berry.

Score 4-6 at the Inverse House to recieve a type berry (eg Occa).

Battle Trees

Sometimes berry trees can be seen in the background of battles. Using Air Cutter, Blizzard, or Twister in battle will cause the tree to drop its berries. The trees have a 20% chance to spawn. They do not appear while surfing. The opponent pokémon must be KOed to pick up berries after battle.

Pidgey learns Twister at level 21, and can be caught on Routes 2 & 3.
